Jay loves the built environment, and finds himself constantly in awe of the designs, processes and materials which are continually pushing the boundaries of modern construction.
Loving a challenge, Jay strives to implement these groundbreaking initiatives and learn as much as he can from any project, whilst working to maximise construction efficiencies, minimising unnecessary wastage and maintaining project budgets.
Waking up and not knowing what each day will bring is one of the most exciting aspects of the construction industry for Jay, and he is always looking forward to learning something new.
Coming from Melbourne, Australia, Jay has spent almost a decade working in the commercial construction industry over a broad range of Tier 1, 2 and 3 projects, ranging from small industrial facilities, to $1.2b flagship shopping centres.
Over this period Jay has jumped at every opportunity to learn new skills, resulting inexperience in a wide range of roles, including Estimating, Contract Administration, OHS Management, Project Coordination and Site Management andSite Supervision.
Jay moved to Berlin in April 2024 and is looking forward to furthering his construction journey in Europe.
Jay's Industry experience began back in 2011, when he started a summer job as a Document Controller with a tier 1 company. Impressed with his work ethic Jay was invited to stay on by the company directors and moved into a full-time role where he worked across a wide range of departments.
Since then, Jay has never looked back, and has successfully operated in almost every construction management role, culminating in his most recent position as Site Manager of several multi-million dollar developments where he personally managed site teams of up to 100 tradespeople.
Prior to moving to Europe, Jay bought a very old house in Melbourne and renovated it himself. What started as an optimistic 1-year project, turned into 2.5-years and resulted in a completely new structure, floors, ceilings and back wall (to name a few), all whilst he was still living in it.
Outside of construction, Jay loves multi-day hiking, skiing and almost any outdoor activity.
Jay also loves travelling and is still coming to terms with how close everything is in Europe compared to Australia!
