Oliver is driven by his desire to help others and finds forming a collaborative environment is the best way to make progress efficiently. He has worked in some fantastic teams where he has been encouraged to adapt, develop, take accountability and always make decisions based on the best outcome for the project and community. He takes great pride in trying to relay the same message as a mentor and colleague to those around him.
He likes to test himself to see how he adapts to new situations and is always eager to pick-up new skills or experiences. He thinks differences in a team are a huge strength, and it is essential to create working environments where unique concepts can be put forward, explored and implemented where suitable.
Oliver grew up on the small island of Guernsey. At a young age, he used to areas of Africa with his grandparents’ charity.
The first construction project he worked on involved planning a major railway upgrade in Malaysia during a university year in industry. Here, he learned how different upbringings and life experiences helped generate complementary thoughts and ideas.
Since then, he has worked for a major contractor on several different construction projects within the UK, operating under planning, engineering and management roles. He is very grateful for this experience which enabled him to become a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Oliver has now moved to France so that his wife could be closer to her family and is relishing the new challenge.
