Ciarán simply loves to solve complex problems and it’s a bonus if he can learn something new during the process. This enjoyment is emphasised when working with a strong team from different backgrounds. Bouncing ideas off each other, to come up with unique solutions is what gets him out of bed in the morning.
He has experience across different areas of construction from consulting to contracting and research. He believes that good communication, both verbal and digital, is the key to a successful project, and prides himself on his varied background to achieve this.
Ciarán’s main experience was as a site engineer and project manager for a reinforced concrete frame and ground works sub-contractor. Due to his knowledge and passion for geotechnics, he often found himself on sites with complex ground conditions and deep excavations.
He wanted to have more of an impact on the construction industry and so when offered a Ph.D. he took it. His research was practical, with the goal of producing design guidance on the use of recycled rubber shreds used in working platforms. Towards the end of his Ph.D., he knew he wanted to continue to impact the construction industry with like-minded individuals and so he joined Laminar.
